Linas, Sam, Chi and Gurjit at POY Ardoch.
As the first Power of Youth summit in Scotland, the first since POY became a full time project, the genesis of the Naked Entrepreneur programme, and the first one that I worked at, I wanted to ensure we got good footage at POY Ardoch. It also was the first time I’d ever tried making videos singlehandedly too. All in all the stakes were high, but everything went well, mostly because of the people who attended.
My primary objective at Power of Youth events was to interview the attending entrepreneurs. It was a fun job because they all had interesting stories to tell, and plenty of expertise about founding and running high growth businesses. However the interviews all and to be conducted during breaks in the event schedule (when everyone would naturally prefer to drink tea or eat lunch) so I didn’t ever get time to take as many photos as I would have liked.
This is one of my favourite photos from that first event – everyone looks relaxed and informal, which is perfect for the POY brand. It was crucial to show that POY Ardoch wasn’t a boring business conference with people in suits, and that entrepreneurs from all over the world attended it. However we also had to show that the programme was a serious and professional business, and the contacts and collaborations incubated here would genuinely help younger entrepreneurs create successful companies. Hopefully this photo manages to convey all that.
You can see more of my photos over at my events photography portfolio, and if you would like to chat about photos and visual marketing for your company please don’t hesitate to contact me at hello@iain-robinson. I’m always keen to work with new projects and companies, whether it’s a big ambitious global network like POY or a local business just starting out.
